Taiwan TFT LCD display supplier, AUO, won Audi TT Roadster 12.3-inch dashboard orders, opened the first example for TFT LCD panel screen used in entire car instrument panel. Another big European car maker, Mercedes-Benz, also plans to use two pcs 12.3-inch TFT LCD screen in S600 car. These senior car makers expanded LCD screen importation, drove AUO, Innolux into high-margin automotive blue ocean market!

NPD DisplaySearch held "Smart Devices Symposium" , Xie qinyi, vice president of the research agency, said that AUO supplied 12.3-inch TFT lcd panel for Audi TT car dashboard using just one LCD panel which is totally digitalized. S600 furthermore, even was planned to use two 12.3-inch LCD in dashboard.

Xie qinyi believes, mass LCD panel using in high-end car market will drive a big growth for TFT LCD panel in car market. LCD gross margin will be higher in car application than in consumer electronics application. Furthermore, high-end car’s margin is higher than ordinary car, this factor will also help AUO and Innolux to improve the gross margin.
